UH, IT'S ON YORKTOWN ROAD, RIGHT BESIDE TAB HIGH SCHOOL.

UH, I'VE BEEN THERE FOR 11 YEARS AND, UH, THE CHURCH HAS BEEN THERE FOR 180 YEARS.

SO IT'S GOT ME ABOUT, GOT ME BY A FEW YEARS.

UH, OUR CHURCH CURRENTLY MEETS AT, UM, EIGHT 30 AND 11 O'CLOCK ON SUNDAY MORNINGS.

UH, WE ALSO HAVE A BIBLE FELLOWSHIP CLASS THAT MEETS AT, UH, 9 45.

SO GREAT.

THEY'VE BEEN IN BUSINESS IN THE COUNTY FOR OVER 50 YEARS AND THEY'VE OVER THOSE 50 YEARS.

UH, I'VE BEEN THERE AT LEAST 50 TIMES, UH, AND, UH, YOU'VE SUPPORTED AT LEAST 50 A LITTLE LEAGUE TEAMS AND, UH, DIFFERENT, UH, UH, PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY.

WE REALLY LIKE TO THANK YOU.

AND, UH, HERE'S TO ANOTHER 50.

AND, UH, I KNOW WE HAD SOME FUNNY WORDS BEFORE THIS.

ONE AN HONOR TO ACCEPT THIS AND THAT LITTLE BUSINESS WAS BUILT ON THE BACK OF THIS COMMUNITY.

AND WE REALLY DID START OUT, ABSOLUTELY BROKE WITH NOTHING.

UM, MY MOM AND DAD, I WAS 15 YEARS OLD WHEN WE OPENED THE RESTAURANT AND, UH, HE BORROWED $2,500 TO BUILD A BUILDING.

WELL, WE KNOW NOW THAT YOU CAN HARDLY GO TO THE GROCERY STORE FOR $2,500, BUT IT WAS A LOT OF MONEY TO US THEN, ESPECIALLY SINCE WE DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING.

AND, UH, WE BUILT THE BUILDING, I SHOULD SAY, MY MOM AND DAD BUILT THE BUILDING ONLY DID WHAT I WAS TOLD TO DO, BUT AT 15, BUT ON OPENING DAY WE HAD NO MONEY LEFT TO PUT IN A CASH BOX.

WE DID NOT HAVE A CASH REGISTER.

WE HAD A CASH BOX AND SANDWICHES WERE 80 CENTS A PIECE.

AND AT THE END OF THE DAY, HE HAD BORROWED $40 FROM A FRIEND TO MAKE CHANGE.

AND AT THE END OF THE DAY, WE HAD TAKEN IN $80 ON THAT DAY.

WELL, MY MOM STARTED CRYING AND SHE SAID, WE'RE GOING TO STARVE TO DEATH.

WE'LL NEVER GET THIS ONE THROUGH SCHOOL.

I WAS THE ONLY ONE LEFT AT HOME.

AND MY DAD SAID, WELL, WE MADE A HUNDRED PERCENT.

WE'RE GOING TO MAKE IT.

SO I GUESS HE WAS RIGHT, BUT I AM THANKFUL TO BE A PART OF YOUR COUNTY TO BE PART OF OUR COMMUNITY AND REALLY APPRECIATIVE OF ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE SUPPORTED US THROUGHOUT THE YEARS AND TO ALL OF OUR LOYAL EMPLOYEES.

A PROGRAM OFFERED TO ADULT LAW SCHOOL STUDENTS.

CRT IS AN ACADEMIC FRAMEWORK FOR ANALYZING HISTORICAL PATTERNS OF RACISM AND HOW THEY PERSIST ECONOMICALLY.

AND SOCIALLY.

IT IS NOT TAUGHT IN K-12 EVEN IF IT WERE TO BE TAUGHT IN THE FUTURE TO AGE APPROPRIATE GRADES.

WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT? THIS NATION HAS A HISTORY OF GENOCIDE OF NATIVE AMERICANS.

200 YEARS OF LEGALLY ENSLAVING, TORTURING, RAPING, AND MURDERING PEOPLE DECLARED LESS THAN HUMAN.

JIM CROW LAWS USED TO TERRORIZE AND SUBJUGATE, FREED SLAVES AND THEIR DESCENDANTS ENTERING US CITIZENS OF JAPANESE DESCENT, KNOWING DETAILS OF NAZI CONCENTRATION CAMPS, AND IGNORING THE SYSTEMIC SLAUGHTER OF NON-UNION PEOPLE, KEEPING WOMEN SUBSERVIENT TO MEN, RELIGIOUS AND ETHNIC INTOLERANCE.

AND THE LIST GOES ON, GO TO VIRGINIA.

1.20 4.1 GIVES THE PARENT THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE WHETHER THEY, THEIR OWN CHILD ATTENDS PUBLIC SCHOOL, PRIVATE SCHOOL, OR HOMESCHOOL, THEN IT DOES NOT GIVE THEM THE RIGHT TO IMPOSE THEIR PERSONAL BELIEFS ON ANYONE ELSE'S CHILD.

IT IS NOT A RATIONALE TO MICROMANAGE THE CURRICULUM.

PARENTS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN DIVISION SCHOOL-BASED COMMUNITY COMMITTEES, ATTEND BOARD MEETINGS, VOLUNTEER, MEET WITH TEACHERS AND ALL STAFF MEMBERS TO AIR THEIR CONCERNS.

OUR CHILDREN DESERVE TO BE EDUCATED BY FACT, BY REALITY, NO MATTER HOW UNCOMFORTABLE IT MAY BE, THEY MUST LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES AND ATROCITIES OF OUR PAST AND HOW FUTURE GENERATIONS HAVE CONTINUED TO BE AFFECTED.

IF WE WANT TO MAKE POSITIVE CHANGE.

OVER THE YEARS, PARENTS HAVE TRIED TO SEND BOOKS FOR FOUGHT THE TEACHING OF EVOLUTION AND SEX EDUCATION INTEGRATION, GENDER EQUALITY, SCHOOL, PRAYER, AND DEMONIZED STUDENTS WITH AIDS WITH ALL THAT RANK, OR WE HAVE MANAGED TO SURVIVE THESE OBJECTIONS WITHOUT HARMING OUR CHILDREN.

PARENTS ARE THEIR CHILDREN'S FIRST TEACHERS

AT HOME, TEACH THEM YOUR VALUES.

SCHOOLS TEACH FACTS, EVEN UNCOMFORTABLE ONES, AND HOPEFULLY STILL INSTILL EMPATHY AND UNDERSTANDING PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY IN 20 OTHERS, DEFUNDED THEIR SCHOOLS FOR FIVE YEARS, RATHER THAN INTEGRATE.

PLEASE DON'T ACT WITH THE SAME IGNORANCE AND INTOLERANCE THAT THEY DID.

MY MOTHER'S ANCESTORS WERE ALABAMA SLAVE OWNERS AND CONTROL SOLDIERS.

MY FATHER'S FAMILY WAS WIPED OUT BY HITLER.

THEY WERE BOTH RACIST.

MY HUSBAND'S ANCESTOR PR WHO SHOW A SOLDIER STATIONED AT FORT NIAGARA IN NEW YORK WAS A NOTED INDIAN SCALPER.

OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN WERE NOT SPARED THEIR HISTORY AND THEY ARE STRONGER FOR IT.

WHO'VE GONE THROUGH YORK COUNTY SCHOOLS.

WE'VE MOVED THERE IN 1998.

WE CURRENTLY HAVE THREE GRANDCHILDREN ON YORK COUNTY SCHOOLS.

AND MY DAUGHTER, AMY IS MY CHAUFFER TONIGHT, UH, TEACHES A SCIENCE AND, UH, YOUR CHI, UH, KATHY AND I HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY PLEASED OVER THE YEARS, UH, WITH THE EDUCATION PROVIDED IN YOUR COUNTY SCHOOLS.

AND I BELIEVE OUR TEACHERS, UH, ARE COMMITTED PROFESSIONALS WHO CARE DEEPLY ABOUT STUDENTS AND COLLABORATE EFFECTIVELY WITH PARENTS.

I WAS SHOCKED TO READ THE DRAFT RESOLUTION ATTACKING THESE SAME DEDICATED EDUCATORS FOR SUPPOSEDLY VIOLATING STATE LAW THROUGH THE EMOTIONAL ABUSE AND IDEOLOGICAL INDOCTRINATION OF STUDENTS INTO BELIEF SYSTEMS THAT CONFLICT WITH THOSE OF THEIR PARENTS.

UH, SO WHAT IN THE WORLD DOES THAT CONSIST OF SPECIFICALLY AT, UM, THOSE HYPERBOLIC ACCUSATIONS, CONJURE UP IMAGES OF, UH, SATANIC RITUALS OR SOMETHING, BUT NO, ALL IT IS IS THE TEACHERS ARE COMPLETING THEIR 18 MINUTES OF MANDATORY CULTURAL COMPETENCY TRAINING, UH, ONLINE PROVIDED BY THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

SO I THINK THE ONLY DUE DILIGENCE THAT THE BOARD NEEDS TO DO IS TO WATCH THIS, UH, THIS TRAINING.

THAT'S BEEN VILIFIED HERE IN THE RESOLUTION.

IT'S A, IT TAKES 18 MINUTES.

UH, AND, UH, AND IT'S, UM, TO SAY THAT THE RESOLUTION MIS-CHARACTERIZES, IT IS A GROSS UNDERSTATEMENT.

I'VE SEEN IT AND THERE'S NOTHING IN IT THAT I BELIEVE IS, UH, YOU'D FIND, UH, EVEN BORDERLINE CONTROVERSIAL REGARDLESS OF YOUR POLITICAL PERSUASION OR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS.

AND I, I, I THINK ANYONE THAT VIEWED THIS TRAINING AND THEN DECIDED IT WAS STILL SOMEHOW SINISTER, I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM WOULD BE THEM AND NOT THE TRAINING.

SO IN SUMMARY, I DON'T BELIEVE THAT THIS PROPOSED PARENTAL RIGHTS RESOLUTION IS WORTHY OF SERIOUS CONSIDERATION BY THE BOARD IT'S FOUNDED ON, ON THE SOLUTION.

THAT'S DEMONSTRABLY UNTRUE, PROPOSED RESOLUTION IS MEAN-SPIRITED OFFICIOUS, THREATENING AND COMPLETELY FALSE.

I BELIEVE IT'S INSPIRATION WAS A FACT FREE POLITICAL NARRATIVE.

THAT'S UNRELATED.

ANYTHING THAT'S ACTUALLY GOING ON IN YOUR COUNTY ARE FINE.

TEACHERS DON'T DESERVE TO BE INSULTED IN THIS CALLOUS HURTFUL WAY.

THIS RESOLUTION, IF ADOPTED WOULD SERIOUSLY DISCREDIT THE BOARD.

AND I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO REJECT IT IMMEDIATELY.

UM, I'M LIVING, UH, STATE YOUR NAME AND OH, KIM GOODWIN LIVES IN SANFORD.

UM, MR. GREEN'S DISTRICT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, PARENTS, TEACHERS, AND TAXPAYERS HAVE SPOKEN OUT BOLDLY AT SCHOOL BOARD AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT MEETINGS AND ACROSS THE COUNTRY THROUGHOUT VIRGINIA AND HERE IN YOUR COUNTY, WHY DURING THE LOCKDOWNS AND ONLINE CLASSES, PEOPLE SAW LESSONS THAT CONCERN THEM OVER WHAT WAS BEING TAUGHT AND WHAT WASN'T HISTORY BASED ON FICTIONAL ONE SIDED STORIES RATHER THAN THE WHOLE PICTURE BASED ON FACTS AND AN IDEOLOGY, PUSHING DIVISIVE AGENDAS AND CONTROVERSIAL TOPICS.

AS LOCAL TALK AS LOCAL TAXPAYERS LEARNED THAT 50% OF THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY IS GIVEN TO OUR SCHOOLS.

THEY JOINED CONCERNED, PARENTS ASKING HARD QUESTIONS.

WHY ARE THESE QUESTIONABLE LESSONS BEING FORCED HERE FOR MANY YEARS, WE'VE BEEN SOLD A STORY THAT THERE'S A HUGE LEARNING GAP BETWEEN RACES HERE THAT WHITE STUDENTS HAVE MORE SUCCESS THAN

STUDENTS OF COLOR.

YOUR COUNTY TEACHERS REPORT THAT THIS HAS BEEN PUSHED FOR YEARS, THAT THE LEARNING GAP IS SO LARGE, THAT EXTRA MEASURES MUST BE TAKEN TO BRIDGE THE GAP THAT NEVER SEEMS TO GET FILLED, BUT IS IT TRUE? RECENT VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION DATA SHOWS THAT Y CSD GRADUATE RATE GRADUATION RATES ARE 96.5% FOR WHITE STUDENTS AND 97.6 FOR BLACK STUDENTS PROVING THEY ARE STATISTICALLY EVEN, AND THAT BLACK STUDENTS GRADUATE AT A HIGHER RATE THAN WHITES WITH A VERY HIGH RATE.

OVERALL, WHY ARE WE PAYING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO OUTSIDE COMPANIES TO FIX THE FALSE PREMISE THAT OUR SCHOOLS AND CULTURE ARE INHERENTLY AND SYSTEMICALLY RACIST HERE? WHY ARE WE PLACING UNDUE BURDEN ON TEACHERS ALREADY OVERWHELMED WITH TEACHING THEIR ACADEMIC SUBJECTS BY REQUIRING ADDITIONAL WORK CENTERED ON INDOCTRINATION RATHER THAN ACADEMICS.

THIS PROVES OUR PARENTS AND CITIZENS ARE RIGHT AND ASKING QUESTIONS TO DIG DEEPER FOR THE WHOLE TRUTH.

THIS PARENTAL RIGHTS RESOLUTION BEGINS TO REINFORCE THE PARTNERSHIP THAT SHOULD BE BETWEEN SCHOOLS, PARENTS, STUDENTS, AND THE COMMUNITY TO CONTINUE AND IMPROVE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE THROUGH TRANSPARENCY.

WE NEED YOU TO VOTE YES, ON THIS RESOLUTION.

NOW THANK YOU, SUPERVISOR WALTZ AND BREYER FOR LISTENING TO MANY PARENTS AND CITIZENS WHO CONTACTED YOU ABOUT THESE SERIOUS ISSUES AND FOR POSING THIS PROPEL PARENTAL RIGHTS RESOLUTION AT THE DISCRETION AT THE DIRECTION OF CHAIRMAN CHAD GREEN, WE STRONGLY URGE THE OTHER SUPERVISORS TO RECOGNIZE THE NEED TO OPENLY SUPPORT VIRGINIA'S RIGHTS OF PARENTS LAW.

THIS NEEDS TO BE VOTED ON SEPARATELY BY EACH BOARD FOR TRANSPARENCY.

SO WE KNOW EXACTLY WHERE EACH BOARD STANDS IN FOLLOWING THE LAW AND PROTECTING PARENTAL RIGHTS.

DON'T LET THE SCHOOL BOARD DELAY AND KILL THIS.

DON'T KICK THIS DOWN THE ROAD, VOTING NO MEANS YOU DON'T SUPPORT PARENTAL RIGHTS.

WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU WANT TO SEND TO ALL YOUR COUNTY AND VIRGINIA? THEY'RE ALL WATCHING US AND LOOKING TO YOU FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP.

WE'RE ASKING YOU TO STRONGLY SUPPORT THIS PARENTAL RIGHTS RESOLUTION.

A FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT TO YOUR COUNTY PARENTAL RIGHTS RESOLUTION IS BASED ON THIS FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT CODIFIED INTO LAW.

DO YOUR COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT MISSION STATEMENT SAYS IT IS TO FOSTER PARTNERSHIPS WITH FAMILIES AND OUR COMMUNITY AND PROMOTE POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN AND AMONGST STAFF, STUDENTS AND FAMILIES, SCHOOL OFFICIALS, PUBLICLY CALLING PARENTS MISINFORMED AND CONFUSED HARLEY FOSTERS PARTNERSHIPS AND PROMOTES POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS.

WE HAVE HIT A BRICK WALL IN HAVING OUR CONCERNS TAKEN SERIOUSLY BY SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS AND ARE LEFT ONLY WITH THE CHOICE TO PETITION YOU, THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, KNOWING THAT YOU DO HAVE A SAY IN THE SCHOOL SINCE 50% OF YOUR COUNTY'S BUDGET IS GIVEN BY YOU TO THE SCHOOLS.

THIS RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGES OUR CONCERNS BY STATING YOU RECOGNIZE THE RIGHTS OF PARENTS LAW ONE DASH 2, 4 0, AND THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT ALL ACADEMIC SUCCESS BEGINS BY EMBRACING THESE FUNDAMENTAL PARENTAL RIGHTS IN OUR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS.

HIGH PARENTS SAID HER DAUGHTER WAS FOSTER STUDY THE 1619 PROJECT LAST YEAR, A FICTIONAL STORY DEBUNKED BY HISTORIANS AND WAS FORCED TO DO A PROJECT ON IT.

WALT DENIED A REQUEST TO HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE PROJECT BASED ON HISTORICAL FACT, THIS WAS PUSHED HERE IN YOUR COUNTY HOME OF AMERICA'S FOUNDING.

IT WOULD BE HANDLED ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS FOR INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS AS HAS BEEN THE POLICY FOR SEVERAL YEARS, THAT WOULD NOT BE A BLANKET APPROACH.

THE ABOVE INCIDENTS PROVED THIS IS FALSE, THAT THE SUPERINTENDENT AND HIS STAFF LIED TO THE SCHOOL BOARD YET THAT BOARD CONTINUES TO SUPPORT AND FOLLOW THE SUPERINTENDENT OVER PARENTS, VALID CONCERNS, PROVING THIS PARENTAL RIGHTS RESOLUTION NEEDS TO PASS NOW WITH YOUR VOTE TO PROTECT PARENT'S RIGHTS AND MAKE SURE OUR SCHOOLS FOCUS ON AN EDUCATION AND NOT INDOCTRINATION VOTING.

THIS MIDDLE SCHOOL SURVEY ASKED ABOUT THE CHILD'S GENDER IDENTIFICATION, WHETHER THE CHILD HAD BEEN EMOTIONALLY OR PHYSICALLY ABUSED AT HOME, CONTEMPLATED SUICIDE, ILLEGALLY SMOKED, DRANK, OR USED ILLEGAL DRUGS, BEEN SEXUALLY ACTIVE AND ASK PROBING QUESTIONS ABOUT PERSONAL HEALTH CHOICES.

THE HIGH SCHOOL QUESTIONS WERE SIMILAR.

BOTH SURVEYS SAID THEY INFORMATION WILL NOT BE USED TO FIND YOUR NAME AND NAMES WILL NOT BE REPORTED.

WHY ARE OUR SCHOOLS BEING ASKED TO DO THIS DATA MINING? THEN IF A SURVEY REVEALS THAT A STUDENT ISN'T OR IS IN DANGER OR DOING SOMETHING ILLEGAL, ISN'T THERE A MORAL AND LEGAL REQUIREMENT TO REPORT.

IT IS OUR SCHOOL DIVISION.

THAT'S SPENDING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO IMPLEMENT SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL LEARNING AND TRAINING TEACHERS TO USE TRAUMA INFORMED PRACTICES, GOING TO IGNORE IF A CHILD REVEALS THIS REALLY NO NAMES, HOW DO THEY MAKE SURE HIS CHILD IS ANSWERING TRUTHFULLY AND NOT JOKING? MY NAME IS TED LAMB AND I LIVE IN THE HAMPTON ROADS, VIRGINIA AREA.

I COME BEFORE YOU TO EXPRESS MY SUPPORT FOR THE PARENTAL RIGHTS RESOLUTION AS A PUBLIC EDUCATOR WITH 24 YEARS EXPERIENCE AND A TWO TERM ELECTIVE SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER.

IT IS TIME THAT WE PROTECT OUR AND YOUR CHILDREN FROM TOXIC PHILOSOPHIES THAT IS BEING HANDED DOWN FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

SOME HAVE SAID THAT THESE PHILOSOPHIES SUCH AS CRT AND GENDER IDENTITY ARE NOT HERE IN VIRGINIA.

IF THIS IS TRUE, THEN WHY ARE TEACHERS FORCED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONCERNING USING APPROPRIATE GENDER PRONOUNS AND CULTURAL COMPETENCIES? HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE BEEN TO THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION WEBSITE? WELL, IF THIS IS NOT TRUE, THEN WHY DID HOUSE BILL 1 45 AND SENATE BILL 1 61 GIVES AUTHORITY TO THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO CREATE MODEL POLICIES THAT ALLOWS FOR STUDENTS TO IDENTIFY AS 11 DIFFERENT GENDER IDENTIFIERS.

WHY DID THIS BILL ALSO AUTHORIZED FOR SCHOOL DIVISIONS TO LOOK FOR BIAS IN THE CURRICULUM AGAINST RACE AND GENDER IDENTITY AMONG OTHER THINGS IN THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION WEBSITE, UNDER THE SAID DOCUMENTS, I'VE SAID, LISTEN TO THIS DEFINITION OF ANTI-RACISM, ANTI-RACISM ACKNOWLEDGES THAT RACIST BELIEFS AND STRUCTURES ARE PERVASIVE IN ALL ASPECTS OF OUR LIVES AND REQUIRES ACTION TO DISMANTLE THOSE BELIEFS AND STRUCTURES.

THIS REQUIRES THAT SCHOOL LEADERS HOLD EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS ACCOUNTABLE WHEN SAYING DO THINGS THAT MAKE SCHOOL AND SAFE AND THEY DISMANTLE SYSTEMS PERPETRATING IN EQUITABLE ACCESS TO OPPORTUNITY AND OUTCOMES FOR STUDENTS HISTORICALLY MARGINALIZED BY RACE.

THESE ARE COMPONENTS OF CRT.

SO NOW THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION POLICY IS THAT IT WILL HOLD STUDENTS, YOUR CHILDREN AND EDUCATORS, EDUCATORS ACCOUNTABLE FOR RACISM IN THEIR LIVES IS THE BDOE THING THAT OUR INSTITUTIONS INCLUDING ITSELF IS INHERENTLY RACIST.

AND NOW LET'S ROOT OUT RACISM FROM OUR CHILDREN.

AS A MOTHER, I DID NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE ENROLLING MY DAUGHTER IN THE PUBLIC OR PRIVATE SCHOOL HERE IN VIRGINIA AND MADE THE DECISION TO HOMESCHOOL HER PER THE BDOE WEBSITE.

SEL PLAYS A KEY ROLE IN THE EDUCATION AND UPBRINGING OF VIRGINIA CHILDREN.

AFTER WATCHING THE VIDEO TITLED THE ROLE, THE FAMILY ROLE IN SEL FOUND ON THE V D O E WEBSITE, I WAS LEFT WITH MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS AND WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND ANY SPECIFIC TRAINING FOR PARENTS AS A RESULTS DRIVEN MANAGER AND A CONCERNED PARENT.

MY EYES ARE DRAWN TO PAGE SIX OF THE V D O E SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING WEBSITE.

THE EXAMPLES GIVEN BELOW BETTER SENSE OF COMMUNITY IS WHAT I WOULD CONSIDER A KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR FOR MEASURING SUCCESS OF SEL.

WE COULD EVEN CALL IT A GOAL.

THE QUESTION IS HOW ARE WE MEASURING THE SUCCESS OF THE GOAL AS A PARENT? I NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE END GOAL FOR SEL.

IN MY EXPERIENCE, THE SMART GOAL METHOD IS A COMMONLY USED TOOL FOR DRIVING RESULTS.

IT IS AN ACRONYM SMART, MEANING SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ATTAINABLE, REALISTIC.

TIME-BOUND THE BENEFITS OF SEO OUTLINED BY THE VIDEO E ARE DIFFICULT TO BUILD SMART GOALS AROUND, FOR EXAMPLE, BETTER SENSE OF COMMUNITY.

HOW CAN WE MAKE A SMART GOAL TO DRIVE MEANINGFUL RESULTS FOR OUR CHILDREN SPECIFIC? WHAT IS A SENSE OF COMMUNITY SPECIFICALLY? HOW DO I TEACH THAT TO MY CHILD? IS THERE A PAT, A TEST THAT SHE CAN PASS MEASURABLE? HOW CAN I MEASURE THIS SENSE OF COMMUNITY FOR MY CHILD ATTAINABLE? HOW DO I KNOW WHEN MY CHILD HAS ATTAINED A BETTER SENSE OF COMMUNITY REALISTIC, WILL EACH CHILD HAVE THEIR OWN STANDARD FOR A BETTER SENSE OF COMMUNITY TIME DOWN? WHEN ARE THEY EXPECTED

IF SMART GOALS ARE NOT PUT INTO PLACE, THIS PROGRAM WOULD BE A WASTE OF TIME AND TAXPAYER MONEY AND CLOSING THE V D O E REPORTEDLY REPEATEDLY EMPHASIZED THE IMPORTANCE OF THE RULE AND THE PARENT SEO MOVING FORWARD.

I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE THOSE WHO REPRESENT YOUR COUNTY TO CREATE AND IMPLEMENT PARENT STEERING COMMITTEE TO DRIVE AND IMPROVE THE SEL PROCESS.

THIS COMMITTEE SHOULD BE CLOSED COMPOSED OF REASONABLE RESPECTABLE PARENTS WHO REPRESENT THE YORK COUNTY COMMUNITY.

I ASK THAT THIS BOARD WILL VOTE IN SUPPORT OF THE PARENTAL RIGHTS RESOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN BROUGHT BEFORE YOU TONIGHT.

IN FACT, IT APPEARED TO BE ORCHESTRATE COMPLETE LIKE ONE PERSON BASED ON NO FACTS WHATSOEVER.

JUST WATCHING THE PREVIOUS BOARD MEETINGS, SUPERVISOR AND SCHOOL.

VERY FEW PEOPLE EVEN KNEW WHAT WAS BEING DRAFTED.

AND ABSOLUTELY NO COLLABORATION WAS MADE BETWEEN THE TWO BODIES.

IT WAS BEING FORCED BY ONE PERSON AND THAT PERSON HAD NO FACTS BEHIND THE REASON THIS RESOLUTION NEEDED TO BE MADE.

AGAIN, WATCHING PREVIOUS MEETINGS DURING A SUPERVISOR COMMENT PERIOD, I WAS AMAZED AT ONE SUPERVISOR READING FROM EXTREME POLITICAL PUBLICATION AND ENCOURAGING OTHER SUPERVISORS TO SUBSCRIBE TO THAT PUBLICATION.

THIS GRANDSTANDING HAS NO BUSINESS IN OUR GOV GOVERNANCE OF OUR COUNTY.

I THOUGHT WE WERE ABOVE ALL THIS.

I AM PROUD OF OUR SCHOOL BOARD.

I HAVE TWO CHILDREN, ONE HAS GRADUATED AND ANOTHER, THAT WILL BE GRADUATING IN A FEW YEARS.

THEY HAVE NOT BEEN INDOCTRINATED, STUDIED CRITICAL RACE THEORY, OR HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO ANY SOCIAL EXPERIMENTS.

THEY HAVE BEEN TAUGHT EVERYTHING.

THEY NEED TO BECOME A PRODUCTIVE ADULT IN OUR SOCIETY.

THE CURRICULUM YOUR COUNTY HAS ADOPTED THROUGH THE STATE IS EVERYTHING THEY NEED WITH EVERYTHING THAT HAS GONE ON.

DURING THE PAST TWO YEARS, I WOULD EXPECT THIS BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO ACT A LITTLE MORE SUPPORTIVE AND NOT TO TRY AND PUSH SOME ALTERNATIVE AGENDA.

LOOK AT WHAT OUR SCHOOL BOARD, SUPERINTENDENT, ADMINISTRATORS, TEACHERS, SUPPORT STAFF, STUDENTS AND PARENTS HAVE BEEN THROUGH.

WE HAVE A STAR WITH A FIRE AT THE GRAFTON COMPLEX, WHICH HAS AFFECTED THE ENTIRE COUNTY MOVING STUDENTS AROUND SHARING SCHOOLS AND FACILITIES.

AND THIS WAS A LOGISTICAL NIGHTMARE.

ALL OF THIS WAS COMMUNICATED WITH MEETINGS, PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS TO THE PARENTS.

THE PANDEMIC WAS NEXT, FORCING TEACHERS AND STUDENTS TO SUDDENLY TEACH AND LEARN ONLINE.

NOW WE ARE COMING OUT OF THE PANDEMIC HOPEFULLY, AND ONE MEMBER OF A BOARD OF SUPERVISORS WANTS TO DEVELOP A JOINT RESOLUTION ON SOMETHING IS NOT BEING TAUGHT IN OUR STATE.

WE DON'T NEED THIS.

OUR TEACHERS DON'T NEED THIS.

OUR PARENTS DON'T NEED THIS.

AND ESPECIALLY OUR STUDENTS DON'T NEED THIS.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY IS TO FULLY FUND OUR SCHOOLS TO SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL DIVISION AND ESPECIALLY ACT LIKE RESPONSIBLE ELECTED OFFICIALS.

IN ADDITION, WE HAVE A SOPHOMORE AT YOUR CHI AND WE HAVE A SECOND GRADER AT DARE ELEMENTARY.

I'M VERY INVESTED IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM HERE AS BOTH AN EMPLOYEE AND A PARENT.

AND I TELL YOU, PARENT CHOICE IS SUPER IMPORTANT.

PARENTS ALREADY HAVE THAT CHOICE.

PARENTS CAN CHOOSE FOR THEIR STUDENTS WHO ATTEND PUBLIC EDUCATION.

AND IT'S INAPPROPRIATE.

THE IDEA TO RE, TO RE WITHHOLD FUNDING TO OUR SCHOOL DIVISION BASED ON SOMETHING THAT'S NOT HAPPENING IS JUST RIDICULOUS.

ONLINE SCHOOLING WAS A JOKE.

SO MANY STUDENTS WERE GOING TO FAIL THE SOL THAT THE STATE HAD TO LOWER THE PASSING GRADE AFTER A BACKLASH FROM PARENTS, THE SUMMER, THE SCHOOL BOARD AGREED TO IN THE MASK MANDATE, BUT THEN THEY CAVED AT THE LAST MINUTE TO THE GOVERNOR'S EDICT, WEARING MASKS, HUGELY AFFECTS LEARNING FOR ALL CHILDREN.

FIRST GRADE THROUGH 12TH GRADE.

DID YOU KNOW THERE'S ONLY BEEN TWO SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN IN VIRGINIA WHO DIED FROM COVID.

DID YOU KNOW THERE'S ZERO EVIDENCE THAT CHILDREN CATCH COVID AT SCHOOL AND THEN INFECT PARENTS OR GRANDCHILDREN, GRANDPARENTS AT HOME.

AND BELIEVE ME, THEY'VE LOOKED FOR THAT EVIDENCE.

SO WITH ALL THAT ACADEMIC PROBLEMS WE'RE HAVING COULDN'T WE JUST FOCUS ON ACADEMICS, BUT NO.

NOW THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION HAS MANDATED CULTURAL COMPETENCY, NOT JUST TRAINING, BUT EVALUATIONS OF TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS IN IMPLEMENTING CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE PRACTICES.

THIS GOES WAY BEYOND CULTURAL SENSITIVITY TRAINING EDUCATORS ARE EXPLICITLY CALLED TO BE CHANGE AGENTS FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE AND ACADEMIC EQUITY, NOT EQUALITY EQUITY.

YOUR COUNTY SCHOOLS HAS ALREADY IMPLEMENTED OUTCOME-BASED EQUITY PROGRAM IN SCHOOL DISCIPLINE.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? IF A KID IN THE BLUE ETHIC GROUP DOES SOMETHING WRONG AND HE CAN'T BE SUSPENDED IF TOO MANY BLUE KIDS HAVE ALREADY BEEN SUSPENDED, THIS IS OUTCOME BASED EQUITY.

THAT'S WHAT THOSE WORDS MEAN.

IT'S CERTAINLY NOT JUDGING BASED ON THE CONTENT OF THE KID'S CHARACTER.

INSTEAD OF TEACHING OUR CHILDREN, THE LIE THAT AMERICA IS SYSTEMICALLY RACIST, WE SHOULD BE TEACHING THEM JUST HOW GREAT OUR CONSTITUTION IS.

IT HELPS PEOPLE IDENTIFY EMOTIONS TO CONTROL THEMSELVES, TO SEEK HELP IF THEY NEED IT.

IT HELPS CHILDREN UNDERSTAND OTHERS AND TO RESPECT THEIR DIFFERENCES.

THE STAKES ARE HIGH.

I AM SURE YOU'RE AWARE THAT BULLYING IS A HUGE PROBLEM FOR OUR YOUTH.

SO CAN HELP BOTH TO PREVENT BULLYING AND TO HELP THE VICTIMS. YOU PROBABLY KNOW THAT RAPE IS A CRIME OF ANGER, POWER DOMINATION.

IT IS PA IT IS BULLYING TAKEN TO AN EXTREME.

YOU MAY NOT KNOW THAT 7% OF THE HIGH SCHOOL KIDS IN THE UNITED STATES ARE RAPED.

AND THIS HAS BEEN TRUE FOR YEARS.

THAT'S REPORTED.

IT'S PROBABLY ACTUALLY MUCH HIGHER THAN THAT.

TALK TO THE WOMEN, YOU KNOW, ALMOST 50%.

I THINK OF WOMEN WILL BE SEXUALLY ASSAULTED IN SOME WAY.

AT SOME TIME, SELL CAN HELP SEEING OTHERS AS PEOPLE WITH VALUE, RECOGNIZING THAT EVEN THOUGH PEOPLE ARE DIFFERENT, THEY ARE THE SAME.

AND WHAT ALSO HELP UNFORTUNATE VICTIMS DEAL WITH THE AFTERMATH.

UNDERMINING THIS PROGRAM HAS PERVERTED.

I SPENT 30 YEARS ON THE YORK COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD AND IN DOING SO HAVE SUPPORTED PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT IN PUBLIC EDUCATION.

IN ADDITION TO SUPPORTING THE DIVISION'S CURRICULUM, AS YOU MAY KNOW, I'M THE PROUD MOTHER OF THREE SONS WHO ATTENDED FROM KINDERGARTEN THROUGH TO GRADUATION FROM THE DIVISION.

I'VE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN MANY JOINT MEETINGS BETWEEN OUR TWO BOARDS WHILE I DUTIES HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT.

BOTH WHAT'S ACCOUNTABLE TO THE CITIZENS OF YOUR COUNTY.

WE MAY HAVE DISAGREED ON ISSUES, BUT I BELIEVE THAT WE RESPECTIVELY FOUND COMMON GROUND.

THERE ARE ALLOWED EACH BOARD TO FULFILL ITS DUTIES.

I'LL COME TO YOU TONIGHT AS A RESULT OF THE RESOLUTION, ALLEGEDLY CRAFTED BY MR. REGARDING CULTURAL COMPETENCY AND SIDING ONE DASH 2, 4 0 1 PARENTS, RIGHT? PARENTS ARE RIGHTS OF PARENTS, WHICH STATES A PARENT HAS A FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT TO MAKE DECISIONS CONCERNED.

I HAVE ONLY TWO QUESTIONS FOR YOU TONIGHT.

BOTH OF WHICH I KNOW YOU CANNOT ANSWER TONIGHT, BUT I TRULY HOPE THAT YOU WILL ANSWER INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY THE FIRST QUESTION, WHAT ARE CRITICAL RACE THEORY, CRITICAL COMPETENCY TEACHING AND CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE TEACHING.

AND SECOND, WHERE DO THESE CONCEPTS ARE? WHERE ARE THEY BEING TAUGHT IN YOUR COUNTY? WHY CSD AND THE ENTIRE STATE HAS.

AND WE'LL FOCUS ON CULTURAL RESPONSIVE TEACHING UNIFORM PERFORMANCE STANDARDS DEFINE EFFECTIVE TEACHING ACROSS AND LEARN ACROSS THE STATE SINCE AT LEAST 2008.

THESE STANDARDS INCLUDE EDUCATION, CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE TEACHING.

I MAY ADD THAT.

IN ADDITION, I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE GINNY SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION.

NOWHERE IN THE STATE IS CULTURE.

UM, CULTURAL RACE THEORY BEING TAUGHT NOR PLAN TO BE THOUGHT IS THAT THE POST-MASTER'S LEVEL AND POSTGRADUATE LEVEL AND CONCLUSION, I READ YOUR RESOLUTION AS AN ATTACK ON PUBLIC EDUCATION AND YOUR ACCOUNTING, WHICH INCLUDED THREATS OF WITHHOLDING FUNDING.

I'M ALSO HERE TO THANK THE YORK COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD FOR THEIR UNANIMOUS REJECTION OF THAT ATTEMPT.

APPARENTLY THE DRAFT PROPOSAL WAS NOT SHARED WITH THE SCHOOL SCHOOL BOARD, NOR EVEN NOR EVEN OTHER SUPERVISORS BEFORE BEING PUBLICLY PROPOSED AS A JOINT RESOLUTION.

ALTHOUGH OUR CHILDREN GRADUATED FROM YOUR CHI YEARS AGO, WE REMAIN PROUD OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF YORK SCHOOLS AND ARE DISMAYED AT THIS CHARACTERIZATION OF ITS EDUCATIONAL MISSION.

THE RESOLUTION THAT WAS PROPOSED FURTHER PROMOTED,

IS THIS THE WORLD WE WANT FOR OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN, REGARDLESS OF OUR PERSONAL POLITICAL BELIEFS AND BIASES OR WHO WE HOLD UP AS OUR POLITICAL HEROES, OUR CHILDREN WILL GROW UP LIVING AND WORKING ALONGSIDE PEOPLE FROM MANY ECONOMIC AND ETHNIC BACKGROUNDS.

SHOULD WE, AS THE RESPONSIBLE ADULTS IN THEIR LIVES, PROMOTE CROSS-CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING AND RESPECT OR ENDLESSLY SOW SEEDS OF DISTRUST, RATHER THAN BRING A BARRAGE OF FALSE ACCUSATIONS AGAINST OUR BELEAGUERED PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC, PERHAPS WE CAN RESOLVE INSTEAD TO DISCUSS THESE IMPORTANT ISSUES TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY WITH COMMON PURPOSE.

THE COMMONWEALTH DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION IS CHARGED WITH THE ESTABLISHMENT AND EVALUATION OF THE CURRICULUM THAT IS IMPLEMENTED IN VIRGINIA'S PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

THIS IS ALSO THE CASE FOR THE PO POLICY OF CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE TEACHING AND EQUITABLE EDUCATION, WHICH ATTEMPTS TO PROMOTE AN UNDERSTANDING OF AND SENSITIVITY TOWARDS STUDENTS FROM ALL CULTURES IN OUR SOCIETY.

IT IS NOT AS SOME WOULD LIKE YOU TO BELIEVE PROPAGANDA, TO INDOCTRINATE OUR CHILDREN WITH FEELINGS OF GUILT AND INFERIORITY.

THERE WAS SO MUCH MISINFORMATION SURROUNDING THIS ISSUE.

ALL OF US COULD BENEFIT BY LEARNING MORE ON THE SUBJECT FROM UNBIASED RESOURCES SO THAT WE CAN OVERCOME THE CONFLICT AND ANTAGONISM THAT IS CAUSING OUR COMMUNITY AND OUR SCHOOL DISTRICTS, UH, ACROSS THE COUNTRY WITH SUCH STRIFE.

I DON'T THINK THAT THE BOARD SHOULD ATTEMPT TO DICTATE AN EDUCATIONAL POLICY WITHIN OUR SCHOOLS, NOR SHOULD IT USE THIS THREAT OR WITHHOLDING FUNDING AS A MEANS OF DISSEMINATING CAREFULLY RESEARCHED OR DISMANTLING, EXCUSE ME, CAREFULLY RESEARCHED EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES.

INSTEAD, I'D LIKE TO SEE TRUST IN THE DULY ELECTED SCHOOL BOARD AND OUR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS TO DO WHAT'S IN THE BEST INTEREST OF OUR CHILDREN.
